Welcome! to the CoeGSS training service guide, the training service comprises of Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) which is an Open Source learning management system (LMS). It's a popular e-learning management software and is suitable for creating online courses, school, high school, college, and university web sites. You can use moodle to enroll in variety of training courses and interact with other users. The courses are designed by the educators, professors or professionals from the industries.

Following is the guideline which explains how you can access and use the CoeGSS Training (Moodle) service effectively.

Accessing and login to the service

When you are logged into the CoeGSS portal click on the Training service from the Service drop down list on the navigation bar as shown in Figure 1, you will be redirected to the home page of Moodle, then click on login as shown in figure 2 to access the login page as shown in figure 3.

If you are a registered user enter your credentials and click Sign In as shown in figure 3. If you are not a registered member please navigate PART B of this tutorial at the end of the page and then continue from here after finishing registration process.

After successful login you will be redirected to your profile Dashboard page on the Moodle as shown in figure 4 below.

Homepage view

From your User Dashboard you can navigate to to the home page of moodle by clicking Site home under Navigation bar on left as shown in figure 4. After clicking on Site home you will redirected to the list of available courses as shown in figure 5 below.

Course catalogue

The courses are grouped into four main categories GSS, HPC, Virtualization and Miscellaneous, click on Courses in the navigation menu to see them as shown in as shown in figure 6 below. Click on the category name to open the list of courses from that group. You can also search the courses by entering the name of the course or any keyword in the search box and click on Go button.

Expanding course catalogue

To see all the available courses click on expand all as shown in figure 7.

Alternatively, you can also expand the course list from the navigation menu on the left of the page as shown in figure 8.

Enrollment process

To enroll yourself in a course click on the course name to open a page containing brief introduction about the course detail and then click on Continue button to enroll yourself in that course as shown in the figure 9 below.

User Profile

To access your user profile click on your name on the top right corner of the navigation bar and bring down a drop down list as shown in the figure 10 and then click on Profile. On user profile page you can edit your profile details, access your blog entries, forum posts & discussions, check your browser session details, grades and also see your login activities on the site as shown in the figure 10 below.

To access preferences click on your name on the top right corner of the navigation bar and bring down a drop down list as shown in the figure 11 and then click on Preferences. As you can see the preferences are grouped into three categories User Accounts (for changing profile settings such as name, email id, calendar settings, course settings, message settings, notification settings etc.), Blogs (for changing blog settings such as registering an external blog) and Badges (managing earned badges).

Notification Messages

To access messages and notifications click on your name on the bell icon or a message icon on the navigation bar as shown in the figure 12 and figure 13.

PART B: Registration Process

1. To register yourself on the CoeGSS training service click on Sign up button as shown in the figure below.

2. After clicking sign up you will be redirected to registration form as shown in figure below. Then enter your E-mail, desired username, password and accept terms & conditions and click Sign up to register for CoeGSS training service. To complete the registration process go to your inbox of provided E-mail id to check for a verification E-mail then open and click on the link in that email to verify your E-mail.

After successful verification go back to step 1 in the main user guide above and login to training service.
